San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival Auditions - January 13, 2007

Thank you Dorothy Pierce for the above post-audition photo

On Martin Luther King weekend, Indigenous, under the artistic direction of Bahira, was honored to audition for World Arts West with over 100 other dance companies for the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival.   This prestigious Festival, now in its 29th year, will feature 29 exciting ethnic dance soloists and troupes and be held over three weekends in June of 2007 at The Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco on Bay and Lyon Street, San Francisco.

The auditions were held at The Palace Theatre in front an esteemed panel of dance directors and teachers, including Aisha Ali, as well as a very appreciative paying audience.  Although Indigenous was not chosen for this year's performance, Carlos Carvajal, one of the two Artistic Directors of this Festival wrote the following personal note on the exclusion letter, "What an original idea!  Very well rehearsed!"  Indigenous was proud to have been invited to audition.
